Microneedling & PRP

Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is a fast, effective way to reduce and minimize acne scars, skin texture, pore size and stretch marks while increasing overall radiance. Microneedling can be used on all skin types and is an incredible way to maintain results from laser treatments even during the summer months. We exclusively use the Dermaspark eDermastamp due to it’s impressive results and approval for cosmetic use by Health Canada.

You can also combine microneedling with PRP. Restore your confidence with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments from MedAesthetics. PRP is a regenerative treatment that prevents and repairs hair loss, stimulates collagen, and accelerates healing in various parts of the body using a three step system. Ideal for women and men suffering from hair loss.

MedAesthetics’ health care professionals will first take a blood sample, followed by a centrifuge process to isolate your PRP.  Your PRP can then be used in a microneedling process to stimulate collagen and promote hair growth and healing.

What is PRP Hair Restoration?

PRP is a treatment to counteract hair loss in men and women suffering from androgenic alopecia. Dr. John O’Mahony will give you a medical assessment on which type of hair loss you are experiencing to determine if you are the right candidate. On the day of treatment, we take a blood sample and place it in a centrifuge that separates the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The PRP is then injected into the areas of alopecia at a depth of 4mm.

How Does it Work?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is the fraction of your blood that is rich in platelets. Platelets are packed with growth factors, proteins and adhesion molecules. Androgenic alopecia works by causing hair follicles to go dormant. The growth factors found in PRP are able to stimulate these dormant follicles, promoting hair growth. Specific functions of these factors include growth of new blood vessels, production of collagen, keratin and fibre and tissue repair.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

You can expect to see improvement in the number and thickness of hairs and in strength of roots. Results are typically visible six months after the first treatment.

What is the Protocol?

We perform three initial treatments, each one month apart (certain cases require four initial treatments). After that we offer a maintenance package where you come in twice a year to maintain results and prevent further loss.
