Chemical peels work at a cellular level by removing dead skin cells and penetrating the outermost layer of the skin called the Epithelium and promoting new epidermal cells beneath. Depending on the peel, the four chemical peels that we offer at MedAesthetics each target different concerns and at different depths. The four peels that we offer range from superficial to deep peels.
Peels can be combined with different treatments, as they are also known to prep the skin by softening keratin and allowing laser, light and products to absorb easier.
Chemical Peel Procedure
Determining what chemical peel is best for you is the first step at MedAesthetics. Our peels can target concerns like minimizing scarring, fine lines, pigmentation, and dullness.
We start the chemical peels by cleansing the skin first and then the prep-solution is applied; which de-greases and preps the skin for the peel. We apply petroleum jelly to protect areas and creases that are at risk for the chemical to possibly sit in and potentially burn (such as around the eyes, corners of nose and the corners of the mouth). Depending on the peel, each peel will be left on for a specific duration. Afterwards, we neutralize the peel, apply Neova's Cu3 Recovery Mask and Cu3 Recovery Lotion.
Aftercare for chemical peels is keeping the skin clean and only touching the skin with clean hands. Applying Neova's Cu3 Recovery Lotion as needed which can be 3-4 times daily. If peeling of the skin occurs, do not peel or pick at skin but you can trim down carefully with small scissors.
