Understanding, Managing & Treating Rosacea
April is Rosacea Awareness Month — a timely reminder to shine a light on a condition that affects millions of people, often silently. At MedAesthetics, we believe that awareness is the first step toward making a change that can greatly boost your confidence. Our goal is for everyone who walks through our doors to achieve their skin goals and leave us looking and feeling their very best.
What Is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic, non-contagious inflammatory skin condition that causes facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and acne-like bumps — primarily on the nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. While it can be frustrating to manage, with the right approach, meaningful improvements are absolutely possible.
It primarily affects adults aged 30–60, particularly those with fair skin, those who blush easily, or individuals with a family history of rosacea. There is no cure, but with diligent care and the right treatments, you can reduce flare-ups, calm visible redness, and slow progression. With this month being Rosacea Awareness Month, it’s a good time to learn about rosacea and how MedAesthetics treatments can help manage its symptoms.
Common Triggers
Identifying and avoiding your personal triggers is one of the most powerful tools in managing rosacea. Common culprits include:

BBL Therapy
BroadBand Light therapy is a go-to treatment for rosacea — effectively targeting pigmentation and reducing redness, flushing, visible vascularity, acne-like lesions, and flare-ups. This treatment is considered quite comfortable, by and large, with virtually no downtime – merely avoiding overheating the skin significantly after your treatment, which will be further discussed in the “After Care” section below.
Yellow Laser
A more intensive option specifically designed to target overall redness, as it targets blood vessels. Basically, the laser uses heat to damage the vessel(s), causing them to collapse, without harming the surrounding tissue. The body then recognizes it is damaged and eliminates the blood vessel as it’s no longer functional. It is highly effective in treating rosacea, but is considered a bit “spicy,” and comes with a bit of downtime. All in all, this is a truly great option if you suffer from rosacea and have found little relief by avoiding triggers, or in alternative options, including skincare.
After-Care Is Everything
Post-treatment care is just as important as the treatment itself. To protect your results:
- No overheating your face — avoid exercise, hot tubs, and saunas after treatment
- Identify and strictly avoid your personal rosacea triggers
- Keep your skincare routine gentle and consistent
