Levulan Kerastick (Photodynamic Therapy)

Case ID: 3364

Individual results may vary.

Case Details

This client came in to MedAesthetics with actinic keratosis on his forehead. This is an abnormal growth of cells on the skin caused by long term sun exposure. They present as red, scaly lesions.
These cells are typically benign, but a small percentage of them may turn into skin cancer.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an excellent option for those looking to reduce or eliminate actinic keratosis on the face, scalp and body. PDT consists of applying Levulan Kerastick, a photosensitizing compound that is absorbed by the damaged cells and activated by red light therapy. This causes a chemical reaction and destroys the abnormal cells.
As shown in the after photo, his skin has healed and he is now left with a brighter, smoother and more even-toned complexion.
